Fragrance History

I was thinking about the evolution of my taste in perfume today. I think the first time anyone bought me perfume was when I was 7 or 8. It was a bottle of Jean Nate after bath splash. The stuff gave me an enormous headache and I could never use it. But for serveral years the same relative would by it for Christmas. I hated it. When I was 12 I took a trip to France and lived for a short time over a summer with a French family. Talk about perfume, I was in heaven. I feel in love with a scent that I could not find again until I was 16 because at 12 I didn't think to write the name of the perfume. To this day, Anais Anais is still one of my favorites.
Still on the search for my scent, I caught a wiff of White Shoulders at 14 and loved it. Except that the only times I really smelled it was on elderly woman at the mall and so I thought perhaps that scent was too old for me, even thought I really loved it.My aunt one year bought me a bottle of Amari perfume from Avon. It had an asian feel to it and trying so hard to bond with my asian roots, I started wearing it although it also gave me a headache from time to time. When I was 18 I moved oveseas to Israel for 9 months and during that time of being around what I thought were sophisticated people, I began to like L'Air du Temp.

At the same time I also encountered Red Door and this perfume has become my signature scent. I've worn it now for 20 years. It is the perfume my husband associates with me and loves. My oldest daughter wanted to try it on one day and when my husband came home and smelled the fragrance, he thought I was around the corner. He went to sneak around and give me a love peck but found it wasn't me but my 3 year old. He was highly disappointed and said that the perfume should stay on me, and me only. We will have to work on Veronica's own personal scent.

I did experment with other scents in my 20's, especially for my bar & night club days. I tried CK1 for awhile but thought it smelled too masculine.

So now that I'm turning 40 soon, I wonder, is it time for something new? My husband says no. I say yes, but there isn't much out on the market that makes me think twice to change.

So, what is your signature scent?

I love that Guido can seek you out by your scent. It's kinda romantic.

What's my scent? - sweat :)

For real though, I asked Arthur.
Me: "Would you like it if I wore perfume?"
Art: "If I can tolerate it."
Me:" There is a difference between tolerating and liking something."
Art: "I like it but I have to tolerate the smell. I like your natural scent."
Me: "Jenette asked what is my scent, I wrote sweat."
Art: "Even better!"

I still have a bottle of Red Door but it feels too strong when I wear it so I have two that I rotate between, Moroccan Rose by Body Shop and Perry Ellis 18. Both bought on sale super cheap. There is an Este Lauder scent I like but I'm too cheap.

I never did find a perfume that was mine. I messed with some body sprays but Mom is very sensitive to sents so I never used much. I have a bottle of something that I got somewhere years ago but it has no lable so I have no idea what is is. It is nice and I wear it sometimes.
