She's 3

We celebrated Olivia's life this weekend with a family birthday party. With 2 birthdays riding back to back we try to celebrate them a week a part. So given that Olivia loved the Barbie cake I did for Veronica back in August, I had to do something special for her too. So with help from Better Homes and Garden Video tutorials, I made her a mermaid cake. Since no one in the family is really big fans of gum drops which is what most of the seashells were made of I made white chocolate shells instead. The mermaid was covered in fruitroll ups. It was such an easy cake to do and it turned out so pretty. Olivia felt special and was excited about her cake, which made me of course very happy.

We made family distance seem less by skyping with our families who could sing Happy Birthday to Olivia. When we called my brother Ethan, my nephew Orrin was so excited to sing to Olivia. They are close, 6 months apart, and he was ready for me to cut the cake and pass it through the computer screen. My other nephew and niece also sang Happy Birthday to Olivia. Winnie and Olivia are only a month apart and it was so sweet to hear her sweet giggles over the internet.

Olivia's very much into dressing up and her favorite gift was this wonderful fairy outfit given to her by her grandparents. I wouldn't be surprised if she wore this everday.

As a mother I have so many hopes and dreams for this little girl. I wonder what she will grow up to be? Her natural talents are so broad right now that I wonder what she will find to be her life's passion. Heck, I'm almost 40 and still wonder what my life passion will be all about.
