Off The Road

So, it's been months, literally, since I've posted on this blog.  Even though we've had an exciting summer, I have not been so enthused to write, it's just not been in me for some explainable reason. I think I still want to blog but I'm not sure.  I set this up for my family to stay in contact with us, but only one grandparent reads it with any interest, and I tell her just about everything so nothing is new.  So for me I guess I need a reason to write, and I feel I don't have one.

Of course, I know that when my children get older this collection of writing about our everyday and special days will mean more, but I'm all out creativity to keep my writing in process. (I am thinking as I am writing so  some of my thoughts may not be coherent on this page.)  I guess for now I'll keep on blogging.  If only for me.

Here's some tidbits about my summer:

  • The end of the school year went without much fan fare.  For the longest time I wasn't even sure when the last day of school was going to happen, and then it did and suddenly I had 5 kids at home!
  • After living here for 3 years, we needed some serious re-painting and room reorganization.  It's still in process.  I'm good at starting things and taking forever to finish.  My parents will be visiting in September, so I've got a living room to finish painting before they come.
  • We spent 3 weeks in Jacksonville this summer. One week was spent with my in laws, one week with my brother, and the last week with my parents.  It was a wonderful time together with my kids and the cousins.  How I love my family!   Last week we went to visit my younger brother, Josh, in Virginia.  I left the two young girls at home and took the two oldest and the baby along with a good friend and her two kids and trekked our way through Mt. Vernon and Washington DC proper.  My brother had a WWII reenactment in his yard, complete with tanks and soldiers. I'll be posting pictures probably in the next couple of day.
  • My hubby finally finished Seminary!  He didn't want to walk down the aisle and get his diploma, but I encouraged him to do so, if not for him than for me!  It's been a long 4 years and I wanted to watch him finish this achievement.  His graduation along with my brother, Ethan's, and an old friend of mine made me motivated enough to start thinking about going back to school.  I really am shocked at the amount of fear I had in returning to school and yet the process was so much easier.  I started the application in June and officially began my courses on August 1.
Well, that pretty much sums up my summer adventures.  I'll be back with more!
