North Carolina Trip - Episode 1

My brothers have become marathon runners. Their goal is to run a marathon in every state. My father last year also began marathon training and several of our dear friends are also marathon runners. So with this in mind my younger brother thought, "wouldn't it be great to run the OBX marathon in November and invite the whole family and friends up for the week". He scored a very cheap rental house in Nags Head with 8 bedrooms and the plan began to take shape.

My husband and I are not marathon runners, in fact the only running around I do is with errands. But I must admit after cheering our crew during the marathon and seeing all the different folks who run, it doesn't seem like it would be completely out of the question one day.

For us the trip to Nags Head would take two days. With 4 young children, driving long periods of time is just to taxing on us as the parents as well as the kids. We started at noon and finally stopped at 10pm. We finally got to Nags Head after lunch the following day. The house was everything we hoped it would be and more! We settled into a suite of 2 rooms with adjoining bathrooms. The living room, kitchen and dining room were all on the 3rd floor of the house. In the summer the rental for this home is close to $6,000 a week. We really were blessed by this vacation in so many ways.

Our bedroom - we were close enough to the kids but still arms length away!

The view from the top floor! Even in November it was still pretty.
