The Drive Home

While on our way home we were also reaquainted with another estranged cousin and his family. Brian was probably one of my closest cousins growing up as he and his family came to visit us almost every summer. My mother and Brian's mother are cousins, but we always called them Aunt and Uncle. Along with Brian, was his older brother Barry and his younger sister Melanie. We've had some adventures together but that was 20 years ago. Brian is now living outside of Nashville, married with two adopted kids! When the door opened and we saw each other, it was as if time has stood still. Those 20 years melted away and we were instantly reconnected. His sister Melanie lives two hours away so we've made arrangements to get together soon as Nashville is only 3 hours away.

The kids got along with their new cousins and we practically had to tear them away from each other. There were lots of tears in the van on the ride home, and it made my heart feel good to know that the next generation were going to be good friends too.

Are those the cousins that would come down to Jacksonville to see you? I love how you are making deliberate steps for your little ones to bond with their cousins.

yes, the very same. And I'm so glad that we've reunited. It feels good to have family closer than Florida.
