Where In the World Is the Gonzalez Clan?

I've been so neglectful of this blog. It used to be such a joy...and now I feel like I have no time even though my access to the computer is so much better. Let's see if I can give a quick summary of the month of May...

My husband was installed as a rector of our small church and with that came the buzz of activity from family and friends visiting.

I took a tumble down the stairs two days before that and have been sore ever since. Perhaps that is why I haven't been sitting down to type on the computer. I was washing the front porch down in preparation of people visiting and the combination of water and soap on wooden steps was not so smart. I fell down hard on my backside and tried to catch myself with my arms. Praise the Lord I didn't break anything but my left arm was bruised badly and my tailbone has been tender. I probably should have gone to get checked out, but I had too much to do... Don't follow my lead, when you fall go get checked out...

The kids and I have been exploring Birmingham. We went to visit the botanical gardens.

I had my first experience at Chuck E. Cheese with the kids. That almost put me in heart failure! I will never do that alone without Guido. Keeping an eye on three small children in a crazy packed area probably raised my blood pressure to boiling point. I was too stressed out. By the end of our time there I did have some fun, even if it was just a little. And because of my skillful skeeball skills the kids got to at least turn in tickets for a small prize, a lollipop.

So that's our life in summary for May. I'll try to be better in June to keep in touch!

Just want to share an experience of mine, I guess as a precaution.

I am not a fan of this place (I may actually be a hater). Once when Alina was much younger, she began to panic up in one of those play tubes because she was stuck between some kids and couldn't get out to use the bathroom. She wound up having a terrible accident! I got her to calm down and she managed her way out of there. I then ran to an employee to tell them about it, especially because there were so many kids playing up there, AND nothing was done the entire time we were there. Even though I continued to pretty much harrass them because there were so many kids playing through my daughters urine, and still nothing was done.

A couple of years ago a saw a news report about some tests they did at Chuck E Cheese, McDonalds, and several other kids "zones" and what they found was dispicable, abslutely disgusting. I guess from my own experience, I've been turned away from these sorts of place.

Aside from that....I must agree, it is very stressful with so many kids everywhere and all the stimulation. Definitely a place to have extra hands helping.

I'm sorry, :) just realized I was pretty negative about a place kids love! :)

Well most of the time my kids won't go in those tunnels without me going through them first. Here I am this huge woman going through tunnels at Mcdonald's checking them out because I too have been disgusted by them myself. If I won't go up, I won't let my kids go up.

I have been at nasty playgrounds and am appalled that nobody will clean up messes faster.
