O Little Town Of Bethlehem

This week's focus during our Advent devotionals is the journey to Bethlehem. I have a wooden nativity set that I allow the kids to play with. Today we were reenacting the journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus. We were having a lot of fun telling the story that we continued with the shepherds coming and then the wise men.
I was telling Xavier about how the wise men avoided coming back to Herod and that Herod was so jealous of Jesus that he sent soldiers to come and kill the babies in the Bethlehem. This reminded Xavier of the Pharaoh killing the Jewish babies in Egypt and he began reenacting the whole Herod plot. Which frightened Veronica who then tried her hardest to hide the holy family throughout the house. I had to remind her that Jesus was not killed and that he was safe. I had to remind Xavier that Herod did not kill Jesus. So much drama, I think they got the story down though.

I love the drama! Sweet Veronica saving the future of the human race by hiding the holy family - how thoughtful :)
