Our First Homeschooling Conference- Epic Failure

Doesn't that picture look serene? It's Sumatanga Retreat Center in Gallant, AL , at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains where we attended our very first homeschooling conference. This would have been a lovely conference had it not been for the accommodations, a sweltering hot room with 4 small children. We lasted a whole day and about 11pm on that same day we packed up the car and went home. Thank goodness the room was cheap and the conference for us was free, otherwise I may have felt like staying. The second mistake was probably in us bringing our 4 small children. But with family far away and no one younger than 75 years old to take care of our kids in our local area; there was no choice but to bring them. Guido and I shared going to a seminar and the other watching kids. It made for a very long day. We did learn some things that we can take into consideration, and we also got to look at curriculum so it wasn't a total waste of our time. The nicest thing about our day was a visit to Ahava Springs Farm where we all got to partake in a bluegrass gospel hoedown after dinner. Guido had never been exposed to bluegrass and the kids seem to really enjoy it too. I guess we were just too ambitious in this first trip with 4 children. Especially with a 1 month old infant. We have learned our lesson! Relax.....

Did you say bluegrass gospel hoedown? If it was good then the whole trip was worth it!
