Epiphany Dinner w/Friends

Don't you just love it when you and your husband find friends that you both just adore! What makes it even better is when their kids get along great with your kids. God has blessed us with such an extensive list of good friends wherever we've moved. Here in Alabama we spend good quality time with the Burke's. We celebrated Epiphany with the Burke's, notice the crowns...

I made my grandmother's Watergate cake, a layered dessert which was my family's favorite dessert. Here's the recipe if you want to try it.

Watergate Cake by Eleanor Abbott

For the bottom layer:

1 1/2 cup flour
2/3 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 stick of butter

Mix together and press into a 9x12 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, then allow to cool before adding the next layers.
8 oz of cream cheese
1 cup of powder sugar
7 oz cool whip

Blend together and spread on cooled crust. Layer 2-3 sliced bananas on top of cream cheese spread.

2 (4oz) boxes of instant chocolate pudding
3 cups of milk
2 tsp. of vanilla

Mix together and pour over bananas. Top with 6-7 oz of cool whip. Sprinkle nuts (optional). Refrigerate to set for at least 2 hours.
