I've heard a dozen commercials this week about using cold water to wash your laundry. The biggest pro is because it saves you money. I am always looking for ways to save money, but for me and my threads, we wash in hot, hot water. I read an article a couple of years ago about bacteria on our clothing that changed my opinion on washing hot. This article on Dr. Laundry's Blog "Germs in the Laundry" was also equally disturbing.

Except for undies, undershirts, whites (socks, etc), towels, and bedding (cases & sheets), everthing else is washed in cold water. Basically, darks and colors! :) I guess that's okay, I hope! I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so if I saw that report I'd probably wash everything (including every member in the family), in HOT water! lol
I read that the dryer kills the germs, so I have been washing everything in cold. Do I need to switch back?
Goodness Gracious ladies....we wash everything in cold to save money. We use liquid bleach on the whites (undies) but not every time.... and the black undies are on their own with the regular wash.
So far we have not had any uncontrolled diarrhea from e. coli and no skin eating flesh bacteria attack us, so I think we are ok. The only thing I may start doing is being more consistent with the liquid bleach on the whites.
