Atlanta Traffic

Since we've lived in Metro-Atlanta we have never been in a traffic jam. I think that's pretty miraculous. We try our best to make sure we are never going or leaving somewhere in Atlanta during crucial heavy traffic times. This weekend we got to experience a lock down on I-20 with three small children in the car. We were headed for a weekend jaunt to Birmingham, AL and left early in the afternoon to avoid rush hour traffic. Little did we know that there had been an accident on I-20. We had left the kids up from their nap time so they could sleep in the car on the way to Alabama. They at least slept half of the 3 hours we were in the traffic jam. In that time we moved 6 miles on the interstate. We tried to make the best of it. A good attitude would make this time bearable. So I had some fun. Here are some pictures I took to remember the time:

Traffic in front of us

Traffic behind us

Hey, look an Alaskan license plate!

Hey, look an Alaskan driver!

Josh wants to know if you turned around and went home or if you got there? Those with inquiring minds want to know.!?

We made it. We had to make it. There was a nice hotel waiting for us and so much more in Birmingham! For just a moment when we peaked at 2.5 hours I thought FORGET IT, let's just try this tomorrow. But by the grace of GOD, (I really understand that phrase now) we pushed through. We are still married, the children are all alive and we had a lovely weekend.

Oh my goodness, that Alaskan guy is cracking me up. People are so paranoid these days (that would be me) about getting their picture taken outside of the people I am really close to because who know where it would end up...but not this guy, he was was like "look at me! I'm Alaskan! I'm in traffic! Whippee!!"
