Eclectic Reading

I've had a very eclectic taste for reading so far this year. From light airy stories to very dark sinister ones. I love reading and unfortunately, if it's a good book I become obsessed to finish it. Here's my list so far in the order I have read them:

Home from Holly Springs by Jan Karon - if you're a Mitford fan, you'll love the continuation of the story.

A Common Life by Jan Karon - okay, so I got a little homesick for Mitford.. had to read another one.

Prayers for Rain by Dennis Lehane - oh my goodness, kept me at the edge of my seat! A very exciting and dark story (murder mystery) filled with a lot of twists and turns.

Blow Fly by Patricia Cromwell - way too dark. I should not have read this one! I couldn't put it down but I still should not have read it.

Mount Vernon Love Story by Mary Higgins Clark - after Blow Fly this story was soft and sweet! It's the fictional love story of George and Martha Washington.

Eliza's Daughter by Joan Aiken - suppose to be a continuation of Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility". It painted most of the characters from Jane's book in a bad light and made the heroine of the story a saint. I didn't like it too much but I finished the book.

The Husband by Dean Koontz - known for being a pretty dark author, this story is more of a suspense novel about a husband who's wife gets ransomed for 2 million dollars. He's just a poor gardener. It was good!

Wisdom's Daughter by India Edghill - the fictional story of the life of King Solomon's daughter from his most beloved wife, the Shumanite from the Song of Songs, and what happens when she meets the Queen of Sheba! I'm in the middle of this book and I've been pushing myself to finish it. It's interesting but such a slow story line.

Home from Holly Springs was the second book I read this year and was pleasantly surprised. I have no idea what the names of the first and third were. The book about King Solomon sounds like a winner.

Interesting reading list. Prayers for Rain by Dennis Lehane sounds interesting. I will try to get to it shortly. By the way, have you been to LibraryThing.com. Great way to keep up with your reading as well as enables you to connect to your blog. See you Sunday.
