1. Finished all the laundry - folded and put away (my mother would be so proud)
2. Cleaned out closets - all linens are nicely folded, the pantry has no stray beans hanging around, and all food storage containers have lids.
3. Organized kitchen clutter. Wow I have counters!
3. Cleaned out the kids drawers and removed all out grown clothes, and stored them (for future children).
4. Made memory books for Veronica's two God Brothers. They live in St. Augustine and although they remember Veronica well, Veronica will not have the opportunity to remember them as much. So to help keep them active in her mind, I found these little scrapbooks at Target for a $1. They looked a little to girly so I covered them with scrapbook paper and I am sending them to the boys to fill out all about themselves, pictures when they were babies, favorite things, etc. When I get them returned, I'll have the insides laminated at the school supply store and Veronica can read them without destroying them.
5. Made a slipcover. My couch was a freebie from a church member, Amy Sewell, she's a self taught Irish dancer and Celtic singer http://www.monarch-ministries.com/ . Anyway, the couch she gave me has three large pillows that do not have washable slipcovers. After watching my two little ones slowly destroy them, I thought that maybe I should make some. Buying such large pillows is out of my budget, but making slipcovers is much more frugal. Only problem, I don't sew. I have a sewing machine but I lent it to a family member and it's still back in Jax. So what to do? I went to JoAnn's and low and behold they had great upholstery fabric for $2 a yard. I bought 4 yards, a large 30 inch zipper and some hemming iron-on-tape. And by golly, I did it. It isn't perfect but I made a slipcover and even ironed on a zipper. I have two more to go, and the couch will be done and will look like new. While I was doing the project I was praying "Lord, give me witty invention, I have no clue what I'm doing".
