I am so excited we have an entire season of Jane Austen works on Masterpiece Theater. My Sunday nights will be even more pleasant! For any other Austen junkies, here is the list for the season. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I already saw Persuasion, which was great. I'm looking forward the rest.
January 27, 2008 MANSFIELD PARK - After being sent to live at Mansfield Park, Fanny Price played by Billie Piper, navigates a labyrinth of intrigues and affairs among its occupants.
February 3, 200 MISS AUSTEN REGRETS - Courtship she knew well; only the last act eluded her. A film biography that dramatizes the author's lost loves.
February 10, 17 and 24, 2008 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE - Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle is Elizabeth Bennet in the definitive adaptation of the most-loved of all Austen novels.
March 23, 2008 EMMA - Kate Beckinsale stars in the title role as the tireless matchmaker who professes no interest in matrimony for herself, only for her orphaned protégée, Harriet Smith (Samantha Morton).
March 30 and April 6, 2008 SENSE AND SENSIBILITY - Though poor, levelheaded Elinor Dashwood (Hattie Morahan) and her impulsive sister Marianne (Charity Wakefield) attract a trio of promising gentlemen.

I'm reading Persuasion now....how was the movie? I'm sad I missed it! I'm totally addicted to Pride and Prejudice - I have both the Colin Firth and the Keira Knightly versions on DVD. The funny thing is that I have watched it so much that Arthur can directly quote much of the movie!
Persuasion was excellent! No one has done a remake of this one in a long time. It was nice to see fresh faces. I think Persuasion is one of my favorite Austeen books. I think I relate to the whole idea of love lost and then found again.
Everytime I read your blog posting I am a little jealous. It looks so good. I could use a lesson. If you get a minute, will you email how to add music? I havent been able to figure it out. By the way I love Pride and Prejudice. It happens to be the girly movie of our youth group, so whenever we're together we watch it.
Did anyone see Becoming Jane? What did you think?
Becoming Jane, excellent performances by Anne Hathaway and and James Cromwell. The pace is a little slow at times, but overall the story line is well done. I don't know how true to the story of Jane Austeen's life it really is, but it felt like one of her own novels. So if she wrote from her own experiences, then it's right on.
I agree, it was a slow pace but the timing felt appropriate, I didn't mind at all. Anne Hathaway did a great job in the role. We'll find out on February 3rd how accurate it was....
